Martin:

Welcome to Presentation Skills Q and A. I am Martin Lindescog.

Martin:

Hi, Karina.

Carina:

Hi, Martin Lindesgog.

Carina:

Karina is here.

Martin:

Yes.

Carina:

How are you?

Martin:

I'm fine.

Martin:

Yourself?

Carina:

I'm fine.

Carina:

It's snow and it's a little bit cold.

Carina:

It's very nice.

Martin:

It's been chilly.

Carina:

Yes, it's chilly.

Martin:

You have to stay warm.

Carina:

Absolutely.

Carina:

We have recap day today.

Martin:

Yes.

Carina:

Isn't it so?

Martin:

Yes, that's correct.

Carina:

I think when I look back on this autumn that we have done many different type

Carina:

of episodes, we have both been talking about the voice and the body makes your presentation

Carina:

shine with non verbal communication.

Carina:

Yes, absolutely.

Carina:

And how you talk with your eyes.

Carina:

So they are with you when you are making

Carina:

presentation or whatever.

Martin:

And the handshake.

Martin:

And the handshake and where to keep your arms.

Martin:

Yes, in where or whatnot not dinosaur.

Carina:

Arms or penguin arms in some way.

Carina:

But we have also talked about the audience,

Carina:

how you as a podcaster can reach out to your audience and use technique that helps you in

Carina:

that way.

Martin:

Isn'T it so that's correct.

Martin:

And now when we have done yeah, we could

Martin:

depend on how you count in.

Martin:

But for Visa, you could say it's a season, but

Martin:

eight episodes so far.

Carina:

Yes.

Martin:

So it's an expression in America.

Martin:

Have you heard about the eight ball?

Martin:

Like the snooker or billiard?

Carina:

Absolutely.

Martin:

The black ball with an eight on and it's like a guessing game.

Martin:

So when you shake it, when you get the answer that you want, in a way.

Martin:

So we are looking now into the future.

Martin:

So I think now the listener could be almost

Martin:

like a co producer or co host because you could engage in that way, give us a positive

Martin:

feedback loop with comments and so on.

Martin:

So that's something for the future and that's

Martin:

also important often in presentation and if you share some information and to communicate

Martin:

to get that feedback loop right.

Carina:

Yes. Because our goal is that you as a presenter or if you are talking, regardless

Carina:

media, we should say you have to make it easy for you and you have to make it with

Carina:

attraction and used new technical things that helps you on the way.

Martin:

Yeah, like tools, different tools make it easier both for the presentator and for the

Martin:

listener or the audience.

Martin:

And again, giving that it's so easy in a way

Martin:

to give feedback in one thumbs up, for example, on social media.

Carina:

Exactly.

Martin:

But then also to maybe do a bit more so you could become a part of the process and

Martin:

of the production, you could call it, and what that could do with your, in a way, self esteem

Martin:

or galification or being into the now into the program, you could say.

Martin:

Or the episode, the last episode we.

Carina:

Were talking about, the ask that you should ask your audience.

Martin:

Yeah. And that's to give like a call to action, to ask the audience and the

Martin:

listener, the one individual.

Martin:

What do you think it's worth to listen to us?

Martin:

What could you gain for this? What could you help you in your professional

Martin:

life as a presenter and also personal? It could be that self esteem because often

Martin:

we're talked about that also how it could be scary to take the scene or present during

Martin:

presentation.

Carina:

Exactly.

Martin:

So it's also that kind of things to talk about.

Carina:

But I think now we are when we are making this recap, I think we should give our

Carina:

listeners some tips and advices which we have been talking about this last episodes.

Carina:

For example, when we were talking about the transcript that we have you need something to

Carina:

say there some tips or.

Martin:

Ideas yes so if you use like a podcast then you could use service with getting

Martin:

transcript so you get the text material of what we are saying.

Martin:

Of course it's a challenge for the intelligence to fix this AI exactly how you

Martin:

say it, depending if you have slang or something like that.

Martin:

But often you get it good enough.

Martin:

And then you could at the same time as you

Martin:

listen, you could read.

Martin:

You could also read what you think is

Martin:

important or interesting in a segment and jump to that section.

Martin:

For example.

Carina:

You don't have to listen to the whole podcast if you don't have the time or of

Carina:

course we.

Martin:

Want you to listen to the whole episode here because it's short and sweet

Martin:

often.

Martin:

Now we will be a bit longer because we do the

Martin:

recap but if it's a longer interview for example like 1 hour or something like that,

Martin:

then you could check out that segment or the part of the conversation that you are most

Martin:

interested from the beginning and then as well you could print it out, you could follow it up

Martin:

when talking about certain names or concepts or links so you could go back and also with

Martin:

accessibility thing as we said in the future that maybe will be a demand from certain

Martin:

lawmakers and others so that's one thing and also search engine optimization you will be

Martin:

able to be found.

Martin:

So for example the topic or the keyword

Martin:

presentation information communication podcasting 2.0 transcript show notes the ask

Martin:

if that's a keyword yet, maybe not.

Martin:

Maybe you could create it if you start si and

Martin:

doing like hashtag new podcast apps I'm often using that on Twitter sooner or later it will

Martin:

become a concept.

Carina:

You could say the keyword transcript is a very useful technical tool to aid.

Martin:

For people who have that accessibility issue.

Carina:

But the future now, martin we will continue with this podcast and these topics.

Martin:

We will and we will talk more about podcast in 2.0.

Martin:

What's happening in that space, how you could get exciting active in that involved and do it

Martin:

something that matters because it's lots of things going on in the world as we know it.

Martin:

Freedom of expression.

Martin:

What's going on with that?

Martin:

Promote it for the future.

Carina:

Exactly.

Carina:

And we can say regardless media, it's

Carina:

important that you get your voice heard and you can come out with your message, should we

Carina:

say here.

Carina:

Yes.

Carina:

And I think it's time now for us to make this ultimate recap and wish our listeners a merry

Carina:

Christmas.

Martin:

Yes, and I would say we'll have a recording during this weekend about that

Martin:

Christmas and how it was created, Christ and so on.

Martin:

So I say myself merry Yule tide, the old word for Christmas.

Martin:

And in Swedish it's interesting.

Martin:

We say good yule.

Martin:

So there you have Jewel and Yule tide.

Carina:

Nice. Well, I wish you a merry Christmas.

Martin:

And you wish merry Jewel tide.

Martin:

Good deal.

Carina:

Good deal.

Martin:

Yeah.
